Biographical sketch

ANNE DURFEE GAUSS was born on June 27, 1876/77 in Sedalia, Missouri to Charles Henry Gauss and Lizzie Johns. She lived in Sedalia (until 1882), St. Charles (1870-72, 1882-85), San Antonio (ca. 1885-95), and then St. Louis. In April 1894 she made a copy of the family record in Joseph Fawcett’s bible for her grandmother, Henrietta Gauss (Letter H Gauss to LT Fawcett 4/19/1894). Ann lived with her parents in the Johns Home (701 Tompkins St) in St. Charles, Missouri (1910 Census #109). After her father’s death, she continued to live there with her mother and siblings (1920 census #312). Miss Annie Gauss died from heart failure on April 25, 1932 at 701 Tompkins (Steinbrinkers 1911-39). On the 27th she was buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery (Index 1919-44:29).
