Biographical sketch

EUGENE GAUSS, JR. was born on October 10, 1856 in St. Charles MO to Eugene Gauss and Henrietta Fawcett. In 1881/82 Eugene purchased a farm near his uncle, Samuel McCluer, in Dardenne (Letter V Fawcett to E Fawcett 4/27/1882). After the death of his father, Eugene, lived with his mother and farmed in Columbia Township, Boone County, Missouri (census 1900 #137, 1910 #320, 1920 #8). From 1890s to 1927 he lived with his sister Virginia Gauss in the former summer home of the Gauss family on Rte 9 (Carlisle Ln), 5 miles southeast of Columbia (Gauss 1982; Denver Republican 1/20/1913:5).

Eugene Gauss died on December 10, 1951 in La Crecenta, California. He was the last surviving child of Eugene and Henrietta Gauss.
